Adorable animals
I mentioned on my last post that a particular picture on my Flickr account had received an amazing number of hits. It is a picture of a monkey hugging a kitten, and I guess it is kinda cute.
A friend of mine commented “You took a picture of two cute animals hugging and you wonder why it’s your most popular?” And to a degree he has a point but what confused me is that in the original picture you can clearly see that the monkey is tethered to a breeze block, and not one person has ever commented on any kind of animal rights issues. When I first posted the picture I was really concerned that a lot of people would question why I didn’t intervene in the blatant captivity of the monkey – although I couldn’t have done anything without the key. So to have a large number of hits and only positive responses is still very surprising to me – although this isn’t an invitation to be mean to me
The picture has also been used in several online articles about inter-species relationships and how humans aren’t the only creatures to keep pets, which is quite interesting in itself and I recommend having a look at this article if only to say “aw” lots. It’s on Environmental Graffiti and I am picture 3.
So as the picture has garnered so much attention I have decided to re-edit it. I am going to add it to the prints page on my website http://erikatanithphotography.co.uk and potentially to my Etsy site if I decide to go ahead with that particular forum.
I have removed the breeze block and the chain. Hopefully I have left in the cuteness.

I’ll be honest, this is the first time I’ve seen the original and the chain was the first thing I noticed, poor monkey
( Of course there was nothing you could have done, I still feel sad for the little fella.
